Take Photo of Favorite Books, Shelves and Share It on Library Shelfie Day Jan. 24
Selfies take a literary turn on Jan. 24 during Library Shelfie Day, where libraries, bookstores, schools, and individuals from all over the world celebrate the day by sharing selfies of their favorite books or shelves on social media.
Started in 2014 by the New York Public Library and celebrated on the fourth Wednesday in January, Library Shelfie Day encourages book lovers to share their love of books and libraries in a fun way. NYPL’s Library Shelfie Day blog shows past examples.
In addition, the celebration is important for keeping physical books relevant, encouraging reading, and introducing others to new books, according to the Library Shelfie Day webpage.
To share shelfies from WSU Libraries, Social Sciences and Government Documents Librarian Lorena O’English suggests using the hashtag #WSULibraryShelfieDay24. For more information, contact O’English at oenglish@wsu.edu.
