April is National Poetry Month! Check out the upcoming events at the Holland and Terrell Libraries:
National Poem in Your Pocket Day
- Thursday, April 18th is National Poem in Your Pocket Day – Take a few minutes away from your daily stress and come over to the Holland and Terrell Libraries to celebrate. You can browse the poetry collection in the Ruth Slonim Poetry Corner, read about a poet, write your own poem, or grab a poem to go. Remember: Keep a poem in your pocket / and a picture in your head / and you’ll never be lonely / at night when you’re in bed!
Spine Poetry Day
- Wednesday, April 24th is Spine Poetry Day – create your own poem using book titles from the spine of a stack of books. Find some examples at http://www.tumblr.com/tagged/bookspinepoetry . Once you’ve got your poem just right, post it on the WSU Libraries’ Facebook page AND send a photo to Lorena O’English at oenglish@wsu.edu the pictures will be posted in the Terrell Library.
DaDa Poetry Day
- Monday, April 29th is DaDa Poetry Day – create your own poem out of a reassembled newspaper article. Learn how at http://mama.indstate.edu/users/dada/howto.html . Make your own or pick up a packet at the Terrell Library on the 29th . Once your poem is composed, post it on Facebook, etc. — and if you send a copy to Lorena at oenglish@wsu.edu the pictures will be posted in the Terrell Library.
