International Open Access Week Highlights Open Scholarship over Commercialization
International Open Access Week 2023, set for Oct. 23-29 with the theme of “Community over Commercialization,” encourages a candid conversation about which approaches to open scholarship prioritize the best interests of the public and the academic community—and which do not, say organizers.
This year’s theme provides “an opportunity to join together, take action, and raise awareness around the importance of community control of knowledge-sharing systems,” according to the Open Access Week website.
“Open access scholarship is the key to advancements in knowledge,” said WSU Libraries Dean Jay Starratt.
